Juan Carlos Benavides

Juan Carlos is Co-Founder of Balandra Capital, and is responsible for the Firms' investment initiatives and portfolio governance. Juan Carlos serves as board member of Birdman, Maguey Spirits, and previously Lululemon Mexico. He is also Co-Chair of Balandra’s Investment Committee. 

JC has over 20 years of investment banking, family office, and operations experience. He spent 10 years at Morgan Stanley’s Global Capital Markets division, where he led the origination and execution of transactions for sovereign, corporate, and institutional clients across Latin America. Before Morgan Stanley, JC worked for HSBC Securities (USA) Inc.

JC holds an M.A. in Economics from New York University and dual B.A. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana and Philosophy from Universidad Panamericana. He is President of the Advisory Board for UNICEF Mexico and he serves on the Education Committee for Fundacion Becar.
